Now Showing - Movie Projectors And Screens
A movie projector is a device that rolls films continuously along a path so that each frame of the film stops in front of a light source for a "fraction" of a second. The light source provides an extremely bright illumination that casts an image on the film through a lens and onto a screen. Four major groups that make up parts of a projector are: the spool assembly (cambers, sprockets, claw, motor, platter), lamp assembly Lamp assembly (bulb, condenser, fan, mirror), Lens assembly (lens, aperture gate, shutter), and the audio assembly (optical and digital readers, infrared light emitting diodes or LED). Five things are absolutely needed to be able to show a modern film-based movie. First, there has to be a way to advance each frame of the film. A way to project the image from the film is equally necessary. Next, the audio of the film has to come out so that there has to be a way to read it. Fourth, you need a surface where you could project the images; and lastly, a system to play the audio needs to be set also. A movie projector (the key piece in showing movies) can provide the top three of the necessities and while movies are usually projected onto a screen, a large white wall is all you really need. However, you might be thinking it is just an ordinary white that images fill. Well, this huge white rectangle wall also uses some technology. A movie screen is usually made of heavy white vinyl and is categorized by the amount of light it reflects. To date, there are four main categories for movie screens: matte white has 5% reflectivity; pearlescent has 15% reflectivity, provides best overall contrast; silver has 30% reflectivity, dark colors can seem a little dull; and the glass bead with 40% or more reflectivity, image is usually too bright. The pearlescent is perhaps the most widely used screen in movie theaters today. Movie projectors and screens have been in existence for decades now. However, movie projectors and screens are gradually evolving to show images that are crisp, clear, and a sure blockbuster hit. |
